If you're using AdSense on your webpages it's very tempting to try to make more revenue by using online services, that increases the number of clicks on your ads - "You click on my AdSense ads and I'll click on your ads"

I'm referring to services like www.adsense-xchange.com,www.clickmogul.com and other similar services.

DO NOT use these services. It's the most effective way to get your AdSense account closed forever!

Google will track the clicks coming from these services and after a while send you an email - "AdSense account closed because of click fraud". I was very lucky and just
got a "friendly" reminder from Google that they've spotted some traffic from one of these sites.

Even other PPC services like www.revenuepilot.com etc. are getting smarter. They might not close your account but simply drop you click values from maybe $1 a click to $0.05 a click if they detect that your visitors are more interesting in clicking the ads than reading the webpage.

Sorry, Miki - there's no fast and easy way to make money with AdSense. Stick to the methods that works long time:

- Build niche sites or blogs with content

- or use the Google AdWords-AdSense method like the Google Profit Generator:

Why do you only see maybe $0.20 - $1.00 click values in yourAdSense stats?

Reason #1
Advertiser are sometimes not advertising on the content network
but only in the Google search results pages.

When you set up an Google Adwords campaign you can choose not
to advertise on the content network, because the quality of
the traffic is lower than in the Google search results pages.

What is the "content network" - Well, that's your webpages with
AdSense ads, and your pages will not show the high-bid ads
but only ads with a lower bid - less revenue to you.

Reason #2
Advertisers use lower bids on the content network.

In an AdWords campaign you can have two different bids. One
for ads showing in the Google search results and another lower
bid for the ads in the content network.

Traffic from people clicking on the ads in the content network
(your webpage) is normally of a lower quality - lower bids means
less click value for the AdSense ads on your page.

Reason #3
Google smart pricing. Google doesn't tell anybody how they
calculate their split-rate for ads on your page. The general
assumption is that Google pays you between 40-70%, but no one
really know.

So don't be impressed by those lists you can buy with high
paying keywords - The high bids are for showing ads on the
Google search result pages, not for ads on YOUR pages.

A list of high paying keywords is valuable, but you have to
make some research before spending your time setting up
a Google AdSense page for a keyword in the Google Profit
Generator system:

Not every keyword you use in the Google Profit Generator system will generate a profit. Out of 10 keywords you might find 1-2really profitable keywords, 4-6 keywords are somewhat profitable and 3-4 keywords are not profitable.

I hate testing, but the smart guys says you have to test what you're doing if you want to earn money with your internet business. During the last month I've been testing the layout and add format of the Google Profit Generator (GPG) pages and here is the result.

Google AdSense Case Study

I'm not allowed by the Google AdSense Policy to give you the exact numbers - Click Through Rates - but changing the layout of AdSense pages can give you a HUGE increase
in CTR on your AdSense pages!

Results after 3,000 pageviews and 800 clicks.

* Layout #1
This is the original layout of the GPG pages as you've seen
it in the videos. This layout has been doing quite well and
keeps earning me money.

3 ads on the page:
- top/bottom 468x60 ads with some graphic near the ad to draw
attention to the ads.
- Left 120x240 ad text-style

* Layout #2
This is a typical layout for many blog pages and it should
be more search-engine friendly than the original GPG page.
Some experts also say this is the best layout to use for your
Google AdSense page.

2 ads on the page.
- 300x250 rectangular ad next to the article text.
- 120x90 ad (menu style) in the right column of the page.

Why only 2 ads when you can have 3 ads on your page? If you have 3 ads on your page you'll allow Google to show some of the lower paying ads, which normally shows up
in position 6-9 in the Google search results. There can be a huge difference in what advertiser bid on position #1 and position #9. By reducing the number of ads on the
page the theory is that Google will not show the "low" paying ads on your page = higher average revenue for clicks.


* Layout #3
This is the original GPG layout with a slight change.

3 ads on the page:
- top/bottom 468x60 ads with some graphic near the ads to draw attention to the ads.
- Left 180x90 ad (Menu style)

.... and who's the winner?

Well, the layout #2 really disappointed me. I expected this to be the winner but actually the ads on this page didn't perform as I expected. It came in last in the test!

The 300x250 rectangular ad didn't work - very low CTR. The 120x90 right menu didn't work - maybe people don't like menu's on the right side of the screen.

The layout #1 worked all right, but the left 120x240 ad didn't perform well.

... and the winner is ....

Layout #3 - The 468x60 ads with some graphic performed very well and the left 180x90 ad (Menu style) increased the CTR on the left ad 25 times!

The 468x60 ad had a 7 times better CTR than the 300x250 rectangular ad!

I haven't tested the difference between top/bottom 468x60 ads but I expect the top ad to perform much better than the bottom ad.

Oh boy, I hate testing! I thought layout #2 would be a clear winner - changed a lot of my pages to this layout and now I have to change the pages to layout #3 :-(
